Botox® in Orlando

Smooth Skin
If you have started thinking about softening frown lines, forehead creases, or crow’s feet but you are not ready for a surgical procedure, BOTOX® Cosmetic may be a good place to begin.

At Park Avenue Plastic Surgery, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Brian P. Joseph and his team treat patients from across the Orlando area at our Winter Park office, and we approach every Botox plan the same way we approach a surgical consult by listening first, examining the muscles that shape your expression, and tailoring an injection plan to your face rather than a template.

What Is BOTOX® Cosmetic?

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a prescription injectable made from a purified form of botulinum toxin type A (onabotulinumtoxinA). It is FDA-approved as a non-surgical treatment for moderate to severe frown lines between the brows, horizontal forehead lines, and crow’s feet at the outer corners of the eyes.

At our practice, BOTOX® is one of two neuromodulators we offer alongside Dysport®, and Dr. Joseph helps patients decide which product fits their anatomy and goals during a consultation.

How BOTOX® Injections Smooth Expression Lines

BOTOX® works by temporarily relaxing the small muscles that pull on the skin between the brows, across the forehead, and at the corners of the eyes. Repeated facial expressions like squinting or frowning over-contract these muscles over time, and that repeated motion is what etches dynamic wrinkles into the overlying skin.

By calming those specific muscles, BOTOX® softens the wrinkle pattern they create and gives the surface skin a chance to look smoother. It does not change the muscles you use to smile, eat, or speak when the injection plan is mapped correctly, which is why anatomy-led dosing matters.

What Concerns Can BOTOX® Help Improve?

BOTOX® is most effective for dynamic wrinkles, the lines that appear or deepen when you make an expression. It is not a filler and does not replace lost facial volume or treat lines caused purely by sun damage.

During your consultation, Dr. Joseph will assess how your face moves and identify which lines are likely to respond well to a neuromodulator rather than another option, such as skin fillers or a resurfacing treatment.

Common concerns BOTOX® may help address include:

  • Glabellar lines: The vertical “11” lines that appear between the eyebrows when you frown or concentrate.
  • Forehead lines: Horizontal lines across the forehead that deepen when you raise your brows.
  • Crow’s feet: The fanning lines at the outer corners of the eyes that show most when you smile or squint.

Benefits of BOTOX® Treatment at Park Avenue Plastic Surgery

BOTOX® has the following benefits:

  • Non-surgical: An in-office treatment with no incisions and no general anesthesia.
  • Quick treatments: Most upper-face BOTOX® appointments take roughly 15 to 30 minutes from check-in to payment.
  • Minimal downtime: Most patients return to their daily activities right after the appointment.
  • Predictable, well-studied results: BOTOX® has decades of clinical use in the upper face.
  • Surgeon-led planning: Dr. Joseph treats each visit as part of a longer-term plan, adjusting dosing at follow-up, as needed.

Who Is a Good Candidate for BOTOX®?

Most healthy adults who are bothered by upper-face dynamic wrinkles may be candidates for BOTOX®. The best way to know is an in-person evaluation, because how your muscles move matters more than your age on a chart.

BOTOX® may be a good fit if you:

  • Notice that frown lines, forehead lines, or crow’s feet appear or deepen when you make expressions.
  • Want a non-surgical option before considering a procedure such as a brow lift or eyelid surgery.
  • Are in generally good health and can avoid blood thinners and alcohol around the appointment, when medically appropriate.
  • Have realistic expectations, as BOTOX® softens wrinkles but does not lift heavy skin or replace volume.

However, BOTOX® is not appropriate for everyone. Patients with certain neuromuscular conditions, an allergy to any ingredient, or an active infection at the planned injection site should not be treated.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding are also addressed in the FAQs below.

What to Expect During a BOTOX® Treatment

Here is what a typical BOTOX® appointment at our Orlando office looks like.

  1. Consultation and history: During your consultation, we review your medical history, current medications, prior neuromodulator treatments, and the specific lines that bother you.
  2. Facial assessment: Dr. Joseph watches your face at rest and in motion, be it frowning, raising the brows, or smiling, to map exactly which muscles are creating each wrinkle.
  3. Treatment planning: We talk through the proposed areas, expected onset and duration, and your cost before any injections.
  4. Injections: After the skin is cleaned, a series of small injections is placed into the targeted muscles. Most patients describe a quick pinch at each site.
  5. Immediate aftercare: We review your post-treatment instructions, answer any last questions, and you are usually free to head back to your day.

Preparatory and Aftercare Instructions for BOTOX®

A few practical steps before and after your appointment may help you get the most out of your BOTOX® visit and reduce the chance of bruising.

Before Your Appointment

  • Tell us about every medication and supplement you take, including any antibiotics. Some medications may interact with BOTOX® or increase the risk of bruising, and we will review the timing with you during your consultation.
  • If medically safe and approved by your prescribing physician, avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements (such as aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, and vitamin E) for several days before the appointment. This can help limit bruising.
  • No alcoholic drinks for at least 24 hours before your appointment.
  • Come in with clean skin—no heavy makeup in the treatment areas if you can avoid it.

After Your Appointment

  • Stay upright for about four to five hours and avoid rubbing or massaging the treated areas. During this time, avoid lying flat on your bed, facials, hair appointments, or anything that puts your head down.
  • Hold off on rigorous exercise, sauna, hot yoga, and similar heat- or sweat-heavy activity for at least 24-48 hours.
  • Avoid alcohol after BOTOX®; it may increase bruising and flushing.
  • Mild redness, small bumps at the injection sites, or pinpoint bruising are common in the first day or two. A cool compress may help.
  • Call our office if you experience anything out of the ordinary.

When Will I See Results from BOTOX®?

BOTOX® does not work the moment it goes in. Most patients begin to notice softening within three to five days, with full results typically visible around two weeks after the appointment, particularly in the area between the brows.

Results typically last about 3 to 4 months, though longevity varies by patient, dosing, muscle strength, and the degree of muscle activity day to day. Some current evidence suggests that consistent, well-spaced repeat treatments may prolong the duration of results.

Most of our BOTOX® patients schedule a follow-up around the three- to four-month mark so we can re-evaluate and adjust the plan if needed.

How Much Does BOTOX® Cost in Orlando?

BOTOX® prices vary from patient to patient and depend on the number of units required to achieve your goals. Muscle strength, the areas being treated, and how your face responds to neuromodulators all factor into your personal plan.

During your consultation, Dr. Joseph will examine your face, discuss what is achievable, and provide a clear cost estimate before scheduling any treatment. Cosmetic BOTOX® is considered elective and is not typically covered by insurance.

Why Choose Park Avenue Plastic Surgery for BOTOX® in Orlando?

BOTOX® may look simple, but achieving natural-looking results requires skill and precision. It requires a clear understanding of facial anatomy, how each muscle moves, and how much product is needed to soften lines without changing your natural expressions. This level of care comes from advanced medical training and experience in aesthetic treatment.

Dr. Brian P. Joseph brings the following to every BOTOX® appointment:

  • Dual board certification: Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery.
  • Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS): A credential indicating ongoing peer review of clinical and ethical standards.
  • Active society membership: Member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and The Aesthetic Society (ASAPS), the two leading aesthetic plastic surgery organizations in the U.S.
  • Surgical understanding of facial anatomy: The same anatomy knowledge used to plan a facelift, brow lift, or eyelid surgery is applied to mapping out where BOTOX® should and should not go.
  • Patient-centered planning: Each BOTOX® plan is evaluated and adjusted at follow-up visits rather than re-stamped from the previous appointment.

FAQs About BOTOX®

BOTOX® has been used cosmetically and medically for decades and has a long safety record when administered by a qualified provider in a clinical setting. As with any injectable, side effects are possible. Choosing a board-certified provider with strong knowledge of facial anatomy is one of the most important safety factors patients can control.
The most common side effects are mild and short-lived: Temporary redness at the injection sites, small bumps that resolve within an hour or two, pinpoint bruising, mild headache, or a sensation of tightness as the product takes effect. Less common effects include eyelid or brow asymmetry, which is typically temporary.
For most patients, BOTOX® results last about three to four months. Some patients notice a slightly shorter or longer duration depending on muscle strength, dosing, and how often they treat. Many patients schedule maintenance appointments around the three- to four-month mark.
It should not, when the plan is mapped to your anatomy. Our goal is a natural-looking softening of the lines you do not want, while preserving the expressions you do want. If you have had a frozen result elsewhere, let us know during your consultation so we can plan accordingly.
Botox is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding because the safety of cosmetic neuromodulators in these situations has not been established. We ask all patients to share this information honestly so we can postpone treatment when needed.
BOTOX® and Dysport® are both botulinum toxin type A neuromodulators that treat dynamic wrinkles. They differ in onset speed, diffusion, and dosing units, which means one may suit your face and goals better than the other. Dr. Joseph will help you choose during your consultation.
We recommend staying upright and avoiding rigorous exercise, lying flat, facials, massage, and hair appointments that require having your head down for at least four to five hours after treatment. This helps the product settle in the intended muscles.
Some medications, including certain antibiotics, may affect how BOTOX® works. Always share your full medication and supplement list during your consultation so we can plan your appointment around them. Do not stop a prescribed medication without first speaking with your prescribing physician.
Call us if you notice unexpected weakness in muscles outside the treated area, significant swelling, signs of infection at an injection site, vision changes, or trouble swallowing or breathing. These are uncommon, but we want to hear from you immediately if they occur.
