Tummy Tuck

Tummy Tuck

The abdominoplasty, or “tummy tuck,” has become a popular body contouring procedure, as techniques have been refined over recent years to give patients more treatment options. A tummy tuck at our practice can benefit patients looking for a flatter, firmer stomach, when abdominal exercises and a healthy diet have no effect.

When evaluating a patient’s abdomen, there are three main issues that we will consider:

  1. Amount of fat present
  2. Tightness of the stomach muscles
  3. Quality of the skin – looseness, tightness, thickness etc

If a patient has excess tummy fat, lax tummy muscles and loose skin, the best procedure is an abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck. This procedure removes excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen, and tightens the muscles of the abdominal wall. This procedure is particularly helpful to women who, through pregnancy, have stretched their abdominal muscles and skin to a point where they are unable to return to normal, but would like to restore their youthful figures. Other patients who benefit from this surgery are those men or women in relatively good shape who are bothered by a large fat deposit or loose skin in the abdominal area, which cannot be controlled with traditional diet and exercise methods. Severe loss of skin elasticity can also be a problem for patients who have experienced huge weight loss, and the procedure can greatly improve their body contour. After tummy tuck surgery, patients will have noticeably flatter and firmer abdominal areas, making them look slimmer and healthier.

Liposuction

Liposuction

Liposuction has grown tremendously in popularity over the past decade for both men and women. As we become more aware of the benefits of a healthy lifestyle in order to maintain fitness and appearance, more people are finding that diet and exercise may not be sufficient to remove fat deposits in localized areas, that can slowly appear as our bodies age. Men typically find their abdomen and hips are the areas resistant to diet and exercise, and continually battle the formation of “love handles”, whilst many women discover that no matter how much they work out, how many hundreds of sit-ups they do, or how many miles they log on an exercise bike, they cannot eliminate the fat deposits at their hips, thighs or arms.

Also known as “lipoplasty” or “suction lipectomy”, liposuction is offered at our office to help women and men of all body types achieve the contoured body they truly desire. Liposuction can do wonders in many areas, including the abdomen, hips, waist, thighs, buttocks, upper arm, back, neck, and breasts.

Liposuction procedures have benefited from several new refinements in related technology, which allow us to target problem areas of the body with absolute precision, and at the same time minimizing bleeding and scarring that were traditionally associated with the procedure. We uses the tumescent technique, which benefits the patient by greatly reducing post-operative discomfort and recovery time. An anesthetic solution is injected directly into the area of the body where fatty tissue is to be removed; then a small incision of about ½ inch is made to allow the introduction of a gentle suction tube, used to remove the fatty deposits. The residual anesthetic may last up to 18 hours after surgery, minimizing post-operative discomfort. The treated area is then covered with a compression garment to ensure quick and effective healing

Thigh / Buttock Lift

Thigh Lift

Have you noticed a loss of skin elasticity in your thigh, buttocks or hip area? If so, you may benefit from a thigh/buttock lift at our practice.

The thigh/buttock lift is a procedure to remove loose skin and excess fat deposits in the thigh and buttocks area. With age, or large weight loss, the skin in these areas can become loose and flabby. We will discuss the various options available to patients wishing to remove and tighten their skin in these areas. There are many variations in the design of the incisions, depending on your personal goals. The best place to start when considering this surgery is a private, confidential consultation, when your questions and concerns can be addressed honestly and openly with us.

Recovery and Aftercare

After undergoing body sculpting or cosmetic surgery for body rejuvenation and body enhancement, the recovery period is a crucial phase in achieving optimal results. Patients can expect some initial discomfort, swelling, and bruising, which are natural responses to the surgical process. To minimize these effects, it is essential to follow the post-operative care instructions provided by your plastic surgeon diligently.

During the initial days, rest is crucial to allow the body to heal. Avoiding strenuous activities and following any movement restrictions outlined by your surgeon is paramount. Depending on the specific procedure, patients may need to wear compression garments to support the healing process and help maintain the newly sculpted contours.

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle during recovery is vital. Proper nutrition aids in tissue repair and reduces the risk of complications. Staying hydrated is equally important for the overall healing process.
